“Teaching one another”
Our programs focus on cultural preservation and are based on traditional teachings. We ensure that we centre family values and principles left to us by our ancestors. Values such as humility, respect, honour, integrity, kindness, truth and love. It is imperative to us that we maintain the integrity of these cultural teachings and teach them to the next generations exactly as they were taught to us.
We ensure that we are providing these programs to the community in a way the reduces barriers and provides resources to help create more access to ceremony, as well as to build capacity for the next generations to have a safe space to come and learn.
Tahto - Osk-âya
Tahto-Osk-âya translates to every young person. That’s exactly what our Indigenous youth programs embody. They are developed to provide the youth with a foundation to learn about ceremonial teachings and protocols. The objective of the youth programs is to provide them with the opportunity to have access to culture and ceremony, but also to help them build life skills and a strong sense of identity to help them with their journey here on this earth.
Kakiyaw Awiyak
Kakiyaw Awiyak means every person. These programs are for everyone and are implemented with the objective of providing the opportunity for our people to have access to culture and ceremony with little to no barriers. We know that culture saves lives and we have a responsibility to share what we know with our community. These programs are immersive and provide teachings of family values, protocols, ceremonial teachings and life skills to help promote healthy-living in balance.
Kisoskapewis
Kisoskapewis means lead helper and signifies a person who has established themselves as a person who holds enough knowledge to provide guidance to others and has a propensity to lead in a good way. These programs are for someone with a bit more of an advanced understanding of ceremonial teachings that want to continue to grow their understanding and knowledge. The objective is to build capacity by creating opportunities to develop leadership skills and advance knowledge of ceremonial teachings.
